Franklin rocking power recliner (JUNK)

Bought love seat at a cost of $1600 . Within days frame bent and I was sitting on an angle . Carolina factory outlet of Hudson Fl. replaced it with another . Within a couple days that frame bent too. Plus the cushion is twisted out of shape. Couldn`t get money back or store credit. They will send another frame in 6 weeks. Meanwhile I can`t use half of seat. Anyone think 3 rd . frame will be any better? Junk and lousy treatment by both. Can`t even find the company on line Don`t deal with Franklin Mike JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK

Most uncomfortable chair and poor workmanship.

Updated by user Apr 14, 2014

Once again Franklin Furniture Company has failed me. The rod that controls the reclining mechanism's is attached to the mechanism with a "PLASTIC PART" which decided to break into pieces last night.

I paid over $500.00 for this chair and this will be the 4th time the technician from Slumberland will be coming; first to take pictures and then get the replacements parts to fix the chair. I sleep in this chair because of my arthritis and now I'm without a chair to sleep i for at least two nights. DON'T EVER BUY A FRANKLIN CORPORATION PRODUCT!

Why can't these companies put decent quality products into their furniture that takes wear & tear??? I've had enough and am going to get rid of this chair and find something else.

Updated by user Dec 06, 2013

I contacted Franklin Corporation with my issues and concerns; NO ANSWER FROM THEM AT ALL. I called Slumberland, where I bought the chair, and they sent out a "technician" to fix the problems.

The let rest was filled with flat foam and made the problem worse. He also put more foam in the back; remember it was very firm before all of this, and needless to say I'm not happy with the chair and hope this complaint & update tells consumers not to buy their products.

If a company makes quality products they should stand behind their work; this company hasn't responded to me at all. The technician said they've had many complaints about Franklin Corporation furniture.

I purchased a power bed recliner because I have to sleep in a chair. I am quite short so I put a pillow behind my back. There is a raised leg rest that is only filled with pillow batting and every time I get out of the chair I have to pull the leg rest back out and reshape it. The seat of the chair is like sitting on cement. I have been having issues with my tailbone (and I have plenty of padding) since I purchased this chair. I will never buy a Franklin product again nor would I recomment one to anybody.

Very poor construction

I bought a Franklin recliner in Nov 2011. It also had heat and massage. I figured since it was made in the USA that I should have a quality product. Not so much. It's just as bad as any cheap Chinese-made *** you'd buy at a discount store. After about a year, the mechanism that popped the footrest up broke and now the footrest is stuck in a half-up position. The wood in the back broke. It is INCREDIBLY rickety. And the adapter, the part that plugs into the wall to get heat and massage, FELL OFF. It's just ridiculous. It's now in the basement for the kids to sit in while watching movies, as they don't care about comfort the way the hubby and I do. Meanwhile, a recliner we bought in 2003 made by a different manufacturer is still going strong. I just bought another recliner by that same manufacturer to replace that *** Franklin, and will NEVER buy another Franklin ever again. And we're not even done paying for the Franklin yet - we still owe another 200 bucks on it (qualified for 28 month financing). What a huge disappointment. PS - When I bought the new recliner, I complained to the salesman that the Franklin ended up being a piece of junk (went back to the same store). He pointed out that much of the frame should have a lifetime warranty so maybe we could fix some of it. Called them today, and *I* would have to pay for shipping for the pieces to fox this piece of junk. $65!!! I don't think so. I can't believe an American manufacturer makes such poor quality products and then treats dissatisfied customers this way.

Worst construction of furniture I've ever seen!

First when I ordered my two recliners they were NOT advertised as Rocking Recliners! I did not want a rocking recliner and specifically sought out the one that did NOT say Rocker Recliner. So, since it did not say it was a Rocker Recliner, I was expecting a regular recliner. I got the Rocker Recliner. Then discovered one of the recliners did not have any padding on the arms when opened in a reclining position! This was obviously constructed very poorly. Then the large sofa that has a recliner at each end started showing it's flaws in construction. Where the reclining part meets the stationary part started showing a huge gap between them when the recliner was upright. I will say I did contact the store where I purchased the furniture and they in turn contacted Franklin Furniture and after I sent pictures showing them how the furniture was constructed they said they would replace it, which they did. So, I have no problem with customer service. However, the replacement furniture is just as poorly constructed as the first set. Where there should be padding, there isn't and the places that do have it, it's so thin, it feels like there isn't any there. The couch is doing the same thing, separating from each other to the point of it looks like it might fall off! It might last another year or so, but I'm not holding my breath. I've learned my lesson and will NEVER buy anything from this company again. Take my advise and if you are considering buying any Franklin Furniture make sure you test it out in a store first.

No Complaints Here

I have a rocker recliner and also a loveseat that rocks and reclines as well. Both seats in the loveseat can rock and recline individually which is unique. I love both pieces and feel the construction is as good if not better than the big recognizable furniture names. I've had them all and speak from experience! I am passing on the good comments because not everyone has a complaint. The red button for making a comment says "Post Complaint". How about changing that negativity into a button that simply says "Post Comment". The Franklin Corp. makes great pieces that look good, operate fine, lasts for years, and are priced competitively. Thank you! Made In America!!

Franklin Corporations Stratolounger is junk.

Recently I purchased a Stratolounger recliner that is a Franklin Corp. product. The mechanism in the chair broke within 7 months.Their warranty will send me the part, but won't send an installer.I have to find someone, and pay them. This is a company that won't stand by their product. If you buy a Lazy Boy recliner The parts ,and repair are free the first year, and the product is much better.Don't buy Franklin furniture. It's cheap, and shoddy workmanship is not worth the cheaper price..Buy a lazy boy,and don't make the mistake I did.

Thanks for the review. I must comment however that Lazy Boy is no better, I bought a reclining couch and love seat from them that started spitting out parts the day it was delivered and the it fell apart within a year.

Called the store I bought it from and they told me to call Lazy Boy who said unless I had it shipped back to them they would not help me. Do you know how hard it is to find someone to pick up something that heavy and deliver it several states away? Do you know how expensive it is? Well you are better off just buying a new one.

So basically don't trust any furniture manufacturers.

Never buy anything from Franklin Furniture

My husband and I bought a Lane Chair and it had to have 4 mechanisms put in it until the fourth one broke, Abbey's Furniture contacted Lane Furniture and told them to exchange the chair or give us a refund, Abbey's Furniture contacted us and told us that they would exchange the Lane Recliner for a Franklin Recliner, when we went into the store, the salesman informed us that this recliner was dyed and not painted, we have had the recliner for 6 months and all the paint is coming off, the Store where we exchanged the chair went out of business, and filed bankruptcy, two months after we bought the chair. The only way we know this is because I did some detective work on the computer and found out that Abbey's Furniture went out of business. My husband and I have contacted the attorney that represented Abbey's Furniture to see if we could get a receipt but, we were told since Abbey's filed for bankruptcy that we could not get that information. My husband has told Franklin Furniture that he would report them to the Better Business Bureau, RIPOFF.COM, and Consumer Advocate if they did not do anything about the chair and they just laughed at him. My husband was told by a lady named Stephanie that the chair was painted if it was dyed or painted then, why is all the paint coming off. FRANKLIN FURNITURE IS DIS-HONEST AND CROOKED, , , , ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS SELLING THEIR FURNITURE, , , ABOUT YOU PURCHASE IT...YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, , , AND YOU GOT SCREWED!

I bought my Franklin Recliner from Art Van and was told that there was a lifetime warranty for the frame and mechanism. I have had to have someone come out and fix it twice now and they were correct, there is a lifetime warranty on those parts, but you have to pay the labor to have it fixed 'in advance'.

They (Art Van) wouldn't even schedule the appointment until I gave them a credit card # to charge it to, and then I need to wait almost 2 weeks for service.

The frame is made of plywood and stapled together instead of oak and glued and screwed as in most 'big' named manufacturers. Very cheesy, You can bet I won't buy another piece of Franklin furniture, or anything from Art Van again.

Your story does not make any sense. If you are going to post negative stuff, make sure it makes sense first!!

Franklin reckiners do not honor warranty

bought a Franklin recliner from American home furnishing in July. had it replaced within two weeks, with same chair.by December that chair was falling apart.

Franklin corp.would not answer e-mails or do anything about replacing the chair because we had it to long.

amh couldn't do anything about the chair but have it repaired because Franklin would not allow it.as i sit and wait for someone to come and repair it the chair continues to become worse. the structure is rapidly declining, the seat and one arm cushion are slowly collapsing, and tips to one side very easily.
